How to upload photos
Adding photos to a page is straightforward. The wiki automatically optimizes images for you, so don't worry about file size or format — just upload what you have.
Step 1 — Upload the photo
- Click Upload file in the left sidebar (under Tools)
- Choose your file
- Give it a meaningful name (e.g. "Cast 1988E group photo Munich.jpg")
- Optionally add a description
- Click Upload file
Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, SVG.
Step 2 — Insert into a page
- Edit the page where you want the photo
- Place your cursor where the photo should appear
- Use the Insert image button in the toolbar (visual editor), or in wikitext type:
[[File:Your-file-name.jpg|thumb|Your caption here]]
- Save the page
Image sizing — don't worry about it
You can upload full-resolution photos straight from your phone or camera. MediaWiki automatically generates thumbnails at appropriate sizes for display, while keeping the full-size original safe.
Photo guidelines
- Only upload photos you own or have clear permission to share
- Consider others — if a photo includes other cast members, use your judgment about whether they'd be comfortable with it appearing here
- Add a caption describing what the photo shows (year, location, names if known)
- Photos with text (like scanned program covers) are very welcome — they're part of the historical record
Uploading many photos
If you have a whole album or scanned collection to add, contact an admin. We can help you upload in bulk rather than one at a time.
Removing or replacing a photo
To replace a photo with a newer version, go to the file's page (click the photo) and use the Upload a new version of this file link. The old version is kept in history.
