How to add a page

Template:TOC right

Most of the time you don't need to add a new page — you need to edit an existing one. Cast pages and help pages mostly already exist. Check first:
  • For a cast year: see Casts by year — if your cast is listed, click through and edit it instead. See How to edit a page.
  • For help, guidelines, or how-tos: browse the existing pages.
Only create a new page if what you need really doesn't exist yet.

This guide walks you through creating a new page from scratch. The whole process takes about 5 minutes.

Before you start

  • You need to be logged in — see How to use this wiki if you don't have an account yet
  • Confirm the page doesn't already exist — browse first
  • For a new cast, have a look at the Cast page template so you know what sections to include

Step 1 — Search for the page name

The easiest way to create a page in MediaWiki is to first search for it. If it doesn't exist, MediaWiki offers a link to create it.

  1. Type your desired page name into the search bar at the top right (e.g. "1988E" or "Cast E 1988")
  2. Press Enter
  3. You'll see "There were no results matching the query" with a red link to create the page
  4. Click that red link to start editing

Step 2 — Add your content

Copy the content from the Cast page template and paste it into the editor. Then fill in what you know.

Don't worry if some sections are empty. It's fine to publish a page that says "Tour dates unknown" or "Cast list incomplete." Other alumni can add to it later.

At minimum, try to include:

  • The cast letter and year
  • Any tour dates or countries you remember

Step 3 — Save

When you're done, click Save changes. Your page goes live immediately. If you make a mistake, you can edit again or roll back to a previous version from the page history.

What happens after you save?

The page is live right away. Other alumni can now find it, add to it, or correct anything.

Naming your cast page

See Cast naming convention for the full guide. Short version: use the format like "1988E" or "1965A".
